information to families with autistic children or adults.


A Family Adapts to Having a Child with Autism

This interactive workshop is geared for parents and professionals. It will present best practices for professionals to help families and for families to help themselves as they face life-long challenges as they love and care for their child with autism.


DMR Supports for Families with Autism
Thursday, May 1, 2008
7pm to 9pm

Presented By: Karen A. Poutre, DMR

The focus of the training will include formulating Transition Statements as part of the IEP process, the Student Referral Form/Chapter 688 Transition Planning, eligibility for services and supports with the Department of Mental Retardation and the MASSCAP prioritization process. In addition, Karen will present a timeline for families with students ages 16 to 22 including information about applying for entitlements, Legal Guardianship and alternatives to Legal Guardianship.
