Recent Programs & Initiatives at Elm Hill Center

Kids Christmas Day
Kids took part in holiday craft projects, listened to Christmas stories, enjoyed some treats and the highlight was a visit for Santa.


SAGE Program Volunteer Project
The SAGE Crossing Foundation spent the day at Elm Hill doing various horticulture projects. They built a new raised garden bed and did some planting in a new area of the grounds. The foundation offers farm and horticulture related opportunities for adults with autism.


New England Paralyzed Veterans
The group spent the day with the Elm Hill Therapeutic Riding Program.


Spa Day at Elm Hill
Individuals from area programs as well as a group of girls enjoyed Spa Day at Elm Hill. They had facials, manicures and pedicures.


Hot Chocolate and Horses
A group of girls took part in the Hot Chocolate & Horses program in December. They learned about winter horse care and enjoyed warm hot cocoa.


Fun in the Sun Program
The Fun in the Sun program is a dynamic activity based program for children with autism. The program is offered free of charge thanks to a grant from DCU for kids.
 

Volunteer Days
Volunteer Days are held monthly at the farm to work on a variety of projects. We have had great support from the community - Spencer Exchange Club, Hope House, Boy Scouts.


Center of Hope
Summer program for children with disabilities operated at Elm Hill Center.

Boy Scouts 100 Years
The Boy Scouts held their 100 year celebration on the grounds of Elm Hill Center.

It Makes Sense
A free program for children 9 yrs - 15 yrs dedicated to the protection and care of animals and the environment. Funded by a grant form the Rosemary Davis Memorial Fund through the Greater Worcester Community Foundation.


Summer Enrichment Program
The summer enrichment program ran weekly throughout the summer at Elm Hill. Participants had a great time taking part in all of the activities.

 

Garden Party & Tea
A Bel Epoque afternoon tea was held to raise money for Elm Hill Center. It was hosted by the Brookfield Historical Commission.

Holiday Tree and House Lighting
Festive event for the community including a visit from Santa to see the grounds decorated for the holidays.


New Garden Areas
New garden areas have been created on the grounds. Future plans will include a "hope garden" and "patriot garden" to be used by the local community.

Interior of House Updated
The interior of the historic mansion has been repainted, new wallpaper put up and furniture rearranged.


Barn Painted by Sheriffs Department
The horse barn was painted by the Worcester County Sheriffs Department.

   

New Chicken Coop
A new chicken coop was built by the Sage Crossing Foundation. Participants in the program spent two weeks at the farm working on this project. Click here to see a video of their endeavor.

   

Successful Fundraisers
Thanks to the support from the local community we had various fundraising events throughout the year to include a lasagna dinner, flea market and yard sale, dances for people with disabilities, and more.
